  • This salad bowl is carved from the root of a Chinese Fir tree called Shan Mu.  Shan Mu grows in the mountains of Central China.  Its lumber is usually utilized for constructions, crates, and furniture.  The raw materials of this bowl come from stumpage left by logging operations.  By removing the stump, we allow faster replanting of the trees in addition to using parts of the tree that normally get discarded!
  • Safe for food contact.  Due to the natural fissures and knotholes possible in each piece, we cannot guarantee the bowls and platters will hold liquid reliably.
  • Best occassionally to treat this product with mineral oil to help protect, moisturize, and brighten their luster.   In dry climates, this product may develop checks or cracks over their lifetime, which is a natural occurance in products carved from single pieces of wood. 
  • Each item is handmade of natural materials.  Varieties in shape, color, and texture are to be expected.
